AREAS Agathonisi Dodecanese Greek Islands Greece

Agathonisi is surrounded by virgin beaches such as Spilia 800 meters to the southwest of the port and Ghaidouroavlako a little further to the south. Tsangari beach and Poros Bay are also 3.5 km to the east of the port. The peaceful life on the island, the tranquility, the hospitality of the inhabitants and the cleanness of the beaches, makes Agathonisi an ideal place for those who opt for quiet holidays, far from crowded tourist areas.

In the east of the island you can find Palos and Vathy Pighadi beaches and in the North, Maistros beach. On the eastern part of Agathonisi you find the Tholi, Byzantine ruins of the 11th century. In the northern part of the island there are ancient ruins in the area of "Kastraki". There are also ancient settlements in the areas of Ai Yiannis and Alonia. Agathonisi is connected by ferry to Patmos, Samos and through them with Rhodes and Piraeus. During the summer months there is a daily connection by ferry and high speed catamarans to the other islands of the Dodecanese and with Samos. In winter there are 5 daily departures.

In the port you find the churches of Aghios Gheorghios, Aghios Ioannis Prodromos and Aghia Irini Chrysovalandou, Aghios Ioannis Theologhos and Panaghia.

There are also the country churches of Aghios Pandeleimon, Aghios Nikolaos, Aghios Charalambos, and Metamorphosi tou Sotiros.

There are five caves near the coast, which, in the past, were used as shelters.
