Piraeus
The port of Piraeus is located about 10 km from the center of Athens and is the main gateway to the islands of the Aegean and Crete. With about 20 million passengers passing through every year, it is the largest port in Greece and the busiest one in Europe.
Piraeus port connects by ferry the mainland with the most popular Greek islands, including the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the Eastern Aegean islands and Crete. In addition to the standard ferries, there are flying dolphins, catamarans and high-speed boats that travel to the Saronic islands.
The port is located next to Piraeus's city center. You can find stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, restaurants and cafés nearby. If you want to go a little further, you may keep yourself fairly busy in this enormous city with a fascinating history.
