Archeological Museum

The Archeological Museum of Kimolos is small but with very interesting archeological finds from excavations in the area of Ellinika, where the ancient city of Kimolos used to be located. More specifically, there are figurines, whole vessels and vessel fragments of the geometric and archaic years, objects from tombs and a sepulchral headstone from the 7th century.

Folklore and Maritime Museum

The Folklore and Maritime Museum of Kimolos is housed in the traditional complex of the Castle of Kimolos, in a private residence built by the ancestors of the museum’s founder.

Here we find items of embroidery made by housewives of the previous century, as well as traditional objects of everyday use, such as glass and clay plates, weights etc. There are also fascinating “corners” with photographs and exhibits, such as the carpenter’s corner, the farmer’s, the tailor’s and on the top floor the sailor’s corner (dedicated to the old ship-owners with paintings of their boats and nautical instruments).
