Archeological museum of Thassos

The museum is located at the capital of Thassos, Limena near the ancient market. It is considered one of the most important provincial museums of Greece where outstanding exhibits from Paleolithic until the Romaic period were shown. In the museum’s entrance there is the tall statue of Kouros that was intended to be placed in Apollo’s temple. The visitor can also see the different aspects on residents’ life, during different periods of time and admire the civilization of the first residents of the island. Some beautiful jewellery of the prehistoric times is exhibited too.

Bagis’ Museum

It is located in the village Potamia, housed in the former high school, dedicated to the famous sculptor Polignotos Bagis (1894-1965), who became known in America. His works are made by using the technique of direct sculpture on different stones. In the museum one can find some of his sculptures.

Folklore Museum of Limenaria

The museum is located in the centre of the village Limenaria. There are exhibited things of daily use, like traditional clothes, photos, ceramic etc. It is open every afternoon.

Folklore museum of Theologos

This museum is located in the centre of Theologos village and it is housed on a two storey municipal building. In the first floor items related to the island’s industry, are exhibited while in the second floor there is a complete representation of a traditional house of Thassos. It is open every afternoon.
