The beaches of Kythnos are considered among the best in the whole of the Cyclades.
You can swim at the beach of Loutra or in the south, at the beach of MERICHAS renowned for its crystal waters. This is a natural bay with fine sand on the coast, full of red, earth, blue and white colours like those that dominate the Aegean. In the village there are many different kinds of shops for fun and all your needs.
Quite closeby is Martinakia. The boats leaving MERICHAS make excursions to the islet of San Lucas with fine sandy beaches. You can also go on foot as the privately owned island is linked to Kythno by a narrow strip of sand.
The beaches of Episcopi and Apokrousi are interesting and windless. The island has several beaches where you can swim every day at a different beach. Examples include: Houlakia, Antonides. Afissos, Gaidouromantra, Merichas, Aghios Stefanos.
For those looking for sand and deep green waters, the ideal place is Agios Sostis, which is north of the island, 2 km from the hot springs. It is considered among the best beaches in the Cyclades.
