Information about Rafina
Rafina was inhabited from the prehistoric years and it was one of the 100 municipalities of Athens that Cleisthenes appointed.
The name comes from its first governor and the mythical hero of Attica, Araphinas. The area developed mainly after 1922, when refugees from Asia Minor settled there. In recent years, the port has developed and is the second largest port of Attica after Piraeus.
