Iraio

In Iraio the ruins of the temple dedicated to Ira are standing to this day.

The region of Iraio was one of the most ancient places of religious adoration, something which is indicated by the existing ruins of at least 4 temples. Irodotos reports that Iraio of Samos was the bigger temple in Greece. It was dipterous of Ionian rhythm, with 155 colossal columns. Something characteristic that indicates how far the manufacturers of those days had gone was the existence of clay piping network for the rainwater drainage.

Pythagoreio

There are still ruins from the fortification walls of the ancient city, the remainder of Polycrates palace, the ancient theatre, the Roman baths and many other great sites.

The most important however, is the Efpalinio tunnel or double-edged tunnel whose length is 1026 meters and penetrates the mountain at an altitude of 246 meters. It was designed by the architect Efpalinus from Megara in order to ensure the water supply of the city.

Between Pythagoreio and the tunnel there is the ancient theatre and above it the monastery of Spiliani where in its entrance there is the chapel of Saint George with some cells next to it.
