Myrina is the island's capital and port built in a traditional style exactly where the ancient town was. The town has two beautiful seashores in front of it and a rocky and abrupt peninsula that gives the place an incredible sea view.
It is a beautiful town built in traditional style with many picturesque, narrow streets, houses and a market place. The impressive, fortified castle which is over the town can be reached either from the market, from the harbour, or from the Roman waterfront. At the foothills of the castle, ten metres from the sea in the harbour area there is a fabulous picture carved on a rock that was restored and completed by the Genoan Gatelouzos and the Turks.
Nea Koutali is one of the prettiest villages in Limnos built amphitheatrically on the bay of Moudros, spreading from Agia Triada pine forest to the graphic, stone-built port where fishing boats are moored. Its houses are very well-kept and their gardens are covered with rose bushes and vines.
Today, Nea Koutali is a lively village where visitors can enjoy the local beauty and the fantastic nightlife of the area.
Kontopouli is a big village with stone houses built on a large plain where grains are cultivated. It is located near two beautiful lakes, Aliki or Asprolimni, where salt used to be gathered and Hortarolimni, which is a marine park. Some other places to visit are the archaeological site on the gulf of Bournia, the remnants of Hephestia which was Limnos' oldest town since the Ancient Greek period, the temple of Kaviria and finally the cave of Philoctetes at the edge of the cliff.
