The current settlement of the island is built in the valley shaped by the torrents of Paradeisi and Tenedioti.

It was built after the devastating earthquake of 1968 in the place where residents used to have their gardens. The buildings are of the same architecture, have two different sizes and were manufactured not given the appropriate attention in order to cover the urgent need for accommodation of the residents. In late years the householders began to renovate them or in some cases to demolish and build new ones.

The old settlement was built on the slope of the hill above the harbour. The houses were made from stone, were two or three- storied with southern orientation and exceptional architecture. They were almost destroyed by the earthquake; fortunately Marasleios Academy and almost 20 houses were rescued that literally embellish the settlement.
