Chora

Chora, the island’s capital is built amphitheatrically on a hill. It is 5km from Livadi, Serifos’ port.

The settlement of Chora is called traditional and not unfairly. It keeps its medieval style and remains untouched by the tourist wave. Narrow cobblestone pavements, whitewashed houses, mills, churches and small squares are all part of the authentic beauty of the settlement. The capital is divided into two parts, Kato Chora and Pano Chora, where one finds the square with the Town Hall, the only neoclassic building of the settlement. In the Town Hall is housed the archaeological collection of the island.

From the top of the hill where Chora is built, are the remains of the Venetian castle. The view from up there is magical.

While touring around Chora you will see many churches. Among them are those of Saint Athanasios, Saint Eleftherios, Annunciation, Saint Ioannis Theologos and of Saint Constantine near Kastro with its panoramic view.

Traditional cuisine can be enjoyed in the local tavernas.. Try marathotiganites, kaparosalad, kakavia and spaghetti with free range chicken. Accompany your meal with the local wine. In Chora you will find rooms for rent that guarantee a pleasant stay.

Livadi

Livadi is in Serifos’ port. It is a beautiful region which is greatly involved in the tourist business. It is the most cosmopolitan summer resort and has a high standard of hotels and other tourist facilities.

You will find hotels and rooms to rent of all categories. Livadi is the leader in nightlife as it has a variety of bars and clubs playing all kinds of music.

It is worth walking along the narrow paths of this graphic settlement and admiring the architecture of the Cyclades. White houses and green valleys create a memorable picture.

Go swimming at the endless beach of Livadi with its crystal clear waters. The beach is organized and there are facilities for water sports.

Closeby are the beaches of Megalo Livadi, Livadakia, Psili Ammos and Agios Sostis.

Megalo Livadi

Megalo Livadi is 13km west of Chora. It is a beautiful coastal village. It flourished financially in the past as it was the port from which minerals were transported.

While touring in the settlement, visit the church of Saint Ioannis Prodromo. It has remarkable murals dating back to the 17th century. Swim at the magnificent beach. There are rooms to rent here, too.
