Alonissos is located 4km north-east from the port, built on the top of a hill, giving it a beautiful panoramic view of the island. In the old times Alonissos used to be the capital city of the island, that’s where it took its name from. Unfortunately, the city was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1956 forcing most of the habitants to leave. Of course, the city was rebuilt and it has become very beautiful.
Patitiri
Patitiri is a new city. It was build from the habitants who were forced to abandon the city of Alonissos after the destructive earthquake in 1956. Now is the capital city of the island including the Port.
Steni Vala
Steni Vala is a small village located in about 12km away from the capital city of the island. Its a small narrow inlet, reminding of a small fjord, and slowly developing into a tourist resort. In Steni Vala, one will also find the Monk Seal Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre, housed in a small hut on the beach.
