Fyra - Firostefani

Fyra is the capital and is built on the top of the cliffs above the harbour on the west side of the island. Access from the harbour to the town is via cable car or via the steps in the side of the cliff, or you can take a leisurely ride up the steps on a donkey.
It is a traditional Cycladic town with white painted houses, narrow alleys and impressive Venetian mansions. There are two cathedrals, Orthodox and Catholic, a Dominican Monastery and a Catholic Nunnery.
The amazing view from Fyra and Firostefani over the caldera and its islets defies description.
Oia

The picturesque village of Oia is in the north of the island and one of the most cosmopolitan. Oia is renowned for its fantastic views over the caldera and magical sunsets.
The traditional residences of Oia are known as kanaves, these are sculpted into the rock. Even newer buildings are in the Cycladic traditional architectural style.
Imerovigli

Imerovigli is also known as ‘the balcony of Santorini’, a traditional settlement located overlooking the caldera. Within the village is the Venetian Skarou Castle built in the 13th century to defend the island. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1817.
Kamari

The coastal settlement of Kamari is one of the most popular resorts on Santorini and located 10 km from Fyra. The resort is famed for its black sandy beach. Nearby is the archaeological site of Ancient Thira.
Perissa

The village of Perissa is on the south coast and has a black sandy beach. Close by is the archaeological site of Ancient Thira.
Pyrgos

Pyrgos is a picturesque traditional village built on the slopes of the Mount of Prophet Elia 8 km from Fyra. The village location offers splendid views of the entire island. The Monastery of Prophet Elia is located here.
Vlyhada

The fishing village of Vlyhadas is on the south coast overlooking the Aegean Sea and close to the archaeological site of Akrotiri.
