Settlement of Sarkos

The hill of Sarkos is located on Kampos.The settlement looks like a fortress belonging to the pre-Cycladic period (2700-2300 B.C.) and it is known for the famous necropolis. Most of the findings were stolen but the remains can teach us about the excellent progress of the civilization during the copper age.

The walls of the Ancient town of Ios

In the north west part of Chora are located the famous walls of the Ancient Town of Ios. The parts of the walls that still stand there teach us that the ancient town was protected by a huge powerful surrounding wall. So don’t forget to visit the walls while you enjoy your vacations on the island.

Ancient Town

Ancient Town was found in the place of current Chora, on the steep slopes above the harbour. This place was also strengthened with a wall huge parts of which are also visible today. Parts of a large building on the western slopes, as well as an ancient street that led from the harbour to the ancient city, can also be seen today.
